Spencer Foundation Dissertation Fellowships
The Spencer Foundation Dissertation Fellowship Program seeks to encourage a new generation of scholars from a wide range of disciplines and professional fields to undertake research relevant to the improvement of education. These fellowships support individuals whose dissertations show potential for bringing fresh and constructive perspectives to the history, theory, or practice of formal or informal education. Eligibility: Applicants must be candidates for the doctoral degree in any academic discipline at a graduate school in the U.S. All applicants must document that they will have completed all pre-dissertation requirements by June 1 of the year in which the fellowship is awarded and must provide a clear and specific plan for completing the dissertation within a one or two-year frame. Woodrow Wilson Dissertation Grants in Women's Studies
The Woodrow Wilson Dissertation Grants in Women's Studies encourage original and significant research about women that crosses disciplinary, regional, or cultural boundaries. Eligibility: Students in doctoral programs who have completed all pre-dissertation requirements in any field of study at graduate schools in the U.S. by Oct. 24, 2003 and expect to complete their dissertation by the summer of 2005. German Mashall Fund's Research Fellowship Program
The GMF Research Fellowship Program offers grants for advanced research to improve the understanding of signigicant contemporary economic, political, and social developments relating to Europe, European integration, and relations between Europe and the United States. Projects should involve either comparative analysis of a specific issue in more than country or the exploration of an issue in a single country in ways that can be expected to have relevance for other countries. The geographic scope of the program includes Western, Central, and Eastern Europe, including Russia and Turkey as they relate to Europe, but not the Central Asian countries that were formerly part of the Soviet Union. Fellowships available for graduate students seeking support for dissertation fieldwork in one or more European countries, recent Ph.D. recipients and senior scholars. American Association of University Women American Fellowships
The AAUW American Fellowships support women doctoral candidates completing dissertations of scholars seeking funds for postdoctoral research leave from accredited institutions. Candidates are evaluated on the basis of scholarly excellence, teaching experience, and active commitment to helping women and girls through service in their communities, professions, or fields of research. Womanist Scholars Program: Black Women in Church and Society
The Womanist Scholars Program of the Interdenominational Theological Center recognizes and promotes the scholarly activities of academicans in the area of Black women and religion/spirituality. This program enables womanist scholars to pursue a research project of the individual's design. The scholars also engage in teaching, lecturing, and consulting on gender issues affecting Black women and religion and spirituality. To accomplish this, the program will invite Black women engaged in scholarly work in these areas, who are seeking sabbatical support or support for a specific research project. The position is a one-year, full-time appointment. Scholars who possess a Ph.D./Th.D. or its equivalent in the fields of religion, other humanities, or social sciences may apply. American Association of University Women Career Development Grants
The AAUW Career Development Grants support women who hold a bachelor's degree and are preparing to advance their careers, change careers, or re-enter the work force. The AAUW Academic Grants provide support for course work beyond a bachelor's degree, including a master's degree, second bachelor's degree, or specialized training that is fully licensed or accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Social Science Research Council's Sexuality Research Fellowships
The Sexuality Research Fellowship Program welcomes applications that contribute to a more thorough understanding of human sexuality in order to inform programmatic/community efforts and public policy regarding current social and health issues; develop interdisciplinary approaches, both theoretical and applied, in which researchers from different social science disciplines participate; propose methodological diversity and innovation utilizing qualitative and/or quantitative research methods that generate new theories and test new methodology. Multi-Country Research Fellowship Program
Stipends of up to $9,000 provided for research opportunities all over the world. Fellowship is awarded to doctoral candidates who have completed all Ph.D. requirements with the exception of their dissertation as well as to established post-doctoral scholars. Scholars may apply individually or in teams. Applicants must be U.S. citizens. Awardees must spend a minimum of 90 days in the countries listed in their proposals. For more information: www.caorc.org

American Association of University Women Selected Professions Fellowships
The AAUW Selected Professions Fellowships are awarded to women who intend to pursue a full-time course of study at accredited institutions during the fellowship year in one of the designated degree programs in which women's participation traditionally has been low: Architecture, Computer/Information Sciences, Engineering, and Mathematics/Statistics. Fellowships are also offered to women of color in fields in which they have underrepresented in: Business Administration, Law, and Medicine. For more information: www.aauw.org

American Association of University Women Community Action Grants
The AAUW two-year community action grants provide seed money to individual women, AAUW branches, AAUW organizations, and community-based nonprofit organizations. These grants provide start-up funds fro longer-term programs and are restricted to projects focused on K-14 (including 2-year colleges) girls' achievement in math, science, and/or technology. Talbots Women's Scholarship Fund
Five women will each be awarded $10,000 scholarships and 50 women will each be awarded $1,000 scholarships. All applicants must be seeking an undergraduate degree from an accredited two- or four-year college or university, or vocational-technical school. Only applicants seeking a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university are eligible to receive a $10,000 award. Scholarship awards are based primarily on financial need and previous achievements for women who earned their high school diploma or GED at least 10 years ago. IHR Mellon Fellowships for Dissertation Research in the Humanities
Administered by the Institute of Historical Research in London and funded by the Andrew W. Mellon
Foundation, the fellowships are intended to help students registered as doctoral candidates at a North American
university to:

1) work in original source materials in the humanities in the United Kingdom.
2) deepen their ability to develop knowledge from original sources.
3) provide insight from the viewpoint of doctoral candidates into how scholarly resources can be developed most
helpfully in the future.

There are two types of fellowship, the Pre-Dissertation fellowship programme and the Dissertation fellowship

Spencer Foundation Major and Minor Research Grants
The Spencer Foundation Major and Minor Research Grants support research projects that originate from research ideas initiated in the field by scholars and other researchers.
