PROFESSIONAL BIO

Andrea joined the Drew faculty in 2005, after spending six years in the political science department at Tulane University.  She received her Ph.D. in political science from UCLA in 1998, and was a post-doctoral fellow at Princeton University's Center for International Studies in 1999.  

Her research focuses on international security, specifically military intervention, civil conflict, and peacemaking and peacekeeping.  She is the author of numerous journal articles, and a book entitled Military Intervention After the Cold War: the evolution of theory and practice.  Andrea has done extensive field research in the Balkans and West Africa, and is working on a project analyzing the links between nation-building efforts and political violence.
