Jewish Life on the West Bank is Topic of Drew Lecture Professor Jeffrey Woolf, of Bar-Ilan University in Israel, will deliver the 2002 Gorham Lecture in Jewish Studies at Drew University on February 4, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the University Learning Center (located in Rose Memorial Library). The event is open to the public and admission is free. The title of Woolf's talk is "In the Eye of the Storm: Jewish Life on the West Bank." Woolf is a senior lecturer in the Talmud at Bar-Ilan
University and an adjunct assistant professor at Touro College. He is
a frequent lecturer at Bet Morasha in Jerusalem. He has twice been a senior
fellow at Shalom Hartman Institute, in 1997-1999 and 2001-2002. Last year,
he won the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture Research Award. Woolf is chairman of the Modern Orthodox Forum and
a trustee of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, both in Israel. He is a member
of the secretariat for the World Council for Torah Education and a member
of the planning committee for the World Orthodox General Assembly. He holds a Ph.D. from Harvard and has written
extensively in his areas of interest. |
