Repeating Rows/Columns on Worksheets

Repeat Rows at the top of a worksheet
Repeat columns at the left of a worksheet

Sometimes you might have large amounts of data on a worksheet. You would like to print the data but that the contents will print on more than one page. Excel can repeat the rows titles or column headings on multiple printed pages.

 

Repeat Rows at the top of a worksheet

To repeat rows at the top of every printed sheet:  
  1. Click File>Page Setup

  1. Click the Sheet tab
  1. To choose rows to repeat at the top of the pages use the Rows to repeat at top field.
  2. Click the collapse dialog icon. This will bring you to the datasheet.
  3. Select the rows to repeat by clicking on the row number. You will see the range appear in the Page Setup-Rows to repeat at top field.

NOTE: The dollar signs you see represent absolute cell referencing. For more information see the Excel formulas document.

  1. Once you have selected the row click the collapse dialog icon again. This will bring you back to the sheet tab.
  1. Click OK

 

Repeat columns at the left of a worksheet

To repeat columns on the left of every printed sheet:
  1. Click File>Page Setup
  1. Click the Sheet tab
  1. To choose columns to repeat at the left of the pages use the Columns to repeat at top field.
  2. Click the collapse dialog icon. This will bring you to the datasheet.
  3. Select the columns to repeat by clicking on the column label. You will see the range appear in the Page Setup-Columns to repeat at left field.

  1. Once you have selected the column click the collapse dialog icon again. This will bring you back to the sheet tab.
  1. Click OK
