Premedical Advising: Prehealth professions advising is available to all interested Drew students from Katie Grogan, Associate Premedical Advisor. Stop by HS 145 or contact her via email to set up an appointment (kgrogan@drew.edu). Katie worked in the NYU premedical (and prelaw) advising office for several years and is now working on her doctorate in Medical Humanities at Drew. All prehealth students should also join the Drew premedical advising Moodle Group, where they will receive important information regarding workshops and premedical opportunities.
Preveterinary Advising: Dr. Tammy Windfelder provides her special expertise to prevet students (HS 131, twindfel@drew.edu).

Mentorship Program in Emergency Medicine at the Morristown Memorial Hospital: This excellent 2-credit internship program is offered to Drew students every semester. For information and application materials, contact the Academic Internship Program at x3566 or stop by University Center Room 101 in the Career Center. Do plan ahead, because applications, immunization records, and two negative TB tests must be completed a month before the semester begins.
The Pre-Med Society has established a facebook account (Drew University Premed Society). Check the Drew Premedical Society Facebook site, and watch for email announcements of meetings of and programming by this student organization. Why Drew University for premedical studies??
Drew University offers excellent preparation for medical school, veterinary school, dental school, and the other health professions. Premedical study is popular at Drew University, although "Pre-med" is not the name of a major. Most Drew students applying to medical and other health professions programs gain acceptance to the school of their choice, as long as they have met the academic and experiential requirements. T he Minority Student Summer Research Opportunity Program - A nine-week program designed for undergraduate students who historically have been underrepresented in medicine (African American, Latino/Hispanic, Native American Indian), and who have a strong interest in a research career in biomedical or biological sciences. The program provides experience and participation in biomedical research. Students participating in the program conduct research under the direction of a faculty member. Research assignments are made based on availability of research opportunities and according to the mutual interests of the faculty sponsors and student participants.
Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) - The Summer Undergraduate Research Program offers 50 college students each summer an exceptional opportunity to conduct original research in a laboratory at one of the world's top-ranking scientific institutions. The program is designed for undergraduates with a strong background in science who are considering a research career. In addition to research, students participate in a variety of complementary scientific activities, including: small-group meetings to discuss their research with other students; weekly faculty seminars on hot research topics; a workshop on ethical issues in science and medicine, and a career planning workshop.
Summer Undergraduate Mentorship Program - A six-week program in which students observe physicians, learn about health disparities and cultural competency, and prepare for the MCAT exam.

Minority Summer Research Training Program (MSRTP) - Drexel UniversitySummer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) - Each year the Drexel University College of Medicine (Drexel Med) awards Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF) to undergraduate students interested in a career in biomedical research. The overarching purpose of the SURF program is to provide students with an opportunity to greatly enhance their analytical and technical scientific research skills, while earning a stipend to support their participation.
