German-language cinema has recently experienced a renaissance in critical acclaim and popularity, and this course will examine 12 outstanding films from the past decade. Students will not only learn about the culture of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, but will also acquire critical skills for analyzing and deciphering visual media.
There are no prerequisites.
All movies will be screened with English subtitles, all classroom discussion will be in English.
Requirements include oral presentations, brief papers, and an exam.
