ENGL 2 (005): Research Writing
Spring 2006

This 2-credit module is offered each Spring semester and satisfies the writing requirement for students who qualify to take it based on SAT-verbal or other test scores. Students who have already satisfied the writing requirement are also invited to take the course, and often do so. Most students enrolled in it are first- or second-year students. The course is an introduction to academic research, information literacy, and the extended research paper.  Students select their own topics and in addition to formal research papers, they are asked to describe or create a document that would most effectively deliver their findings to a specific audience who would benefit from them. This could be a website, a brochure, a poster, a PowerPoint presentation or some other media. Students also make a presentation to their classmates at the end of the semester. Below is a selection of ePortfolios from section 005 of the course taught by Sandra Jamieson.
