May 18, 1997  The Promise of Nes Ammim: A New Christian Outlook
A film and lecture. Guest Speaker The Reverend Kathleen Rusnak. Nes Ammim is an ecumenical Christian Village in Israel founded as a response to the Holocaust and the subsequent establishment of the State of Israel.

A film adapted from a widely acclaimed memoir by Isabella Leitner, introduced by the author. Shown as part of a three-part 1997-1998 film/lecture Series.
May 17, 1998 Arrival In Jerusalem: The Long Way Home
A unique and powerful documentary film from the Simon Wiesenthal Center. Shown at "Special Sunday At Drew"; part of a three-part 1997-1998 film/lecture Series.
Sept 22, 1999 Broken Glass
A powerful and provocative psychodrama by Arthur Miller about one American family's response to Kristallnacht. Set in 1938 Brooklyn, Broken Glass stars Mandy Patinkin and Elizabeth McGovern.
Nov 3, 1999 From Swastika to Jim Crow
A film about Jewish refugee scholars from Nazi Germany who served on the faculties of Black colleges in the southern U.S. A post-film discussion led by filmaker, Lori Cheatle. Shown as part of the 1999 fall conference.
Sept 19, 2000 The Führer Gives a City to the Jews
A Nazi propaganda film about the "model concentration camp," Theresienstadt--a film originally made to deceive Red Cross visitors. The film was recently re-assembled from fragments. Commentary by Leopold Lowy, a survivor of the camp. Shown as part of a series, and as part of the 2000 fall conference.
Sept 26, 2000 A Visitor From The Living
A filmed interview with the International Red Cross official who was sent to evaluate Theresienstadt and who refused to acknowledge the "Big Lie" being perpetrated by the Nazis. Filmmaker Claude Lanzmann tries relentlessly to make him admit the truth. (French with English subtitles) Commentary by a representative from the International Committee of the Red Cross. Shown as part of a series, and as part of the 2000 fall conference.
Oct 3, 2000 The Triumph of Evil
A documentary film on Rwanda indicting the United Nations, the United States, and other western countries for failing to recognize the genocide going on before their very eyes. Commentary by Dr. Douglass Simon, Professor of Political Science, Drew University. Shown as part of a series, and as part of the 2000 fall conference.
Feb 12, 2001 Korczak
A remarkable and true story about Janusz Korczak, a physician and educator who created an orphanage for Jewish children in the Warsaw Ghetto in Nazi-occupied Poland. (Polish with English subtitles) Directed by Andrzej Wajda, recipient of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences 2000 Honorary Oscar™. Commentary by Nessa Ben-Asher, survivor of the Warsaw Ghetto and witness to Korczak's tragic procession--himself as leader, the children following--out of the ghetto, headed toward death in Treblinka.
Feb 17, 2003 Children from the Abyss
A film about children and young people who survived the Holocaust in the area of the former Soviet Union produced by Steven Spielberg's SHOAH Foundation--with commentary by Marina Temkina, trainer for Spielberg's SHOAH Visual History Project.
This film is part of a month long program built around a photographic exhibity by Sharon Faulkner on Pre- and Post-Holocaust Jewry in the former Soviet Union. More information on this program.
