	Student Internships

	Internships help students explore their interests within the sciences and also provide credentials for graduate school, medical school, and jobs. The faculty strongly urges each biology student to seek internship experiences during the summer after the junior year. Some students also find internships for the summer after the sophomore years. Many relevant internships are also available near Drew University for nondepartmental credit during the academic year. Below are links to some major, ongoing internship programs. Additional internship announcements are posted in the hallways of the biology department and professors might have suggestions as well. Contact the organizations directly about the possibility of paid or volunteer work.

	Monster Trak - Searchable internship listings (and jobs!) are offered by Drew's Academic Internship Program and Career Center.

	National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates - NSF funds a large number of research opportunities for undergraduate students through its REU program. These are excellent, well-paid opportunities to experience research in large research labs and field stations. Application deadlines vary.

	Harvard Forest Summer Internships in Ecology - Paid summer research experiences with a variety of ecology projects. Application deadline is mid March.

	Resources for the Future (RFF) Summer Internship Program - This non-profit organization specializes in re search, policy analysis, and public education on envieronmental, energy, natural resource issues. Application deadline is mid March.

	Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve Native Plants and Public Gardens Internship - Located in Pennsylvania just across the Delaware River from New Jersey. Application deadline is mid February.

	Institute for Ecosystem Studies (IES) - In Millbrook, NY. Paid summer research program for undergraduates in various fields of ecology, at a famous upstate New York research station. Application deadline is Feb.15 each year.

	Cedar Creek Natural History Area - University of Minnesota. Paid internships at field station 35 miles north of Minneapolis. Application deadline is March 1 each year.

	Northeast Fisheries Science Center of NOAA (National Oceanic and Space Administration) - A wide range of student research projects on marine and fisheries issues. Program locations: Woods Hole, MA; Narragansett, RI; Milford, CT; Highlands, NJ; Washington, DC and Orono, MEOAA's Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC). Application deadline is mid March.

	University of Rochester Medical Center Surf Program for the Healthcare Professions, Office of Ethnic and Multi Cultural Studies - Rochester, NY. Conduct reserach with a faculty mentor. Application materials must be received by mid February.
