Professional Biography

Ellen's job entails preparing solutions and media for biology labs as well as setting up laboratory teaching materials and equipment. Good thing she likes moving around!. We all appreciate her cheerfulness, energy, and supportiveness.

Her route to this job began with graduation from a two room country elementary school eventually followed by a BS in biochemistry from WSU.

She worked her way from the veterinary research labs there to a leading role in the testing of a successful treatment for human childhood leukemia at Yale. A stint as a monkey and baboon nurse, surgical aid, and research assistant came next, followed by years of working as a lab assistant in reverse transcriptase research at Rutgers. Teaching high school chemistry, earth science, physics and biology immediately preceeded employment at Drew.

Ellen is an adventurous traveller who spends her summers exploring ecosystems from mountain tops to coral reefs, as well as hiking and camping. She also enjoys reading, quilting, and gardening.

She's very proud of her daughter who used her Drew science education as a springboard for a Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry.
