The Curriculum for Majors
All BMB majors start out by taking the following Foundation Courses:
Principles of Chemsitry I and II
Organic Chemistry I and II
Ecology and Evolution
Diversity of Life: Animals, Plants and Microbes
Physics I and II (either PHYS 11 and 12, or PHYS 1 and 2)
Calculus and Analytical Geometry I and II
The Foundation Courses prepare you to take the Core Courses of the BMB major:
To round out their education in biochemistry and molecular biolgy, BMB majors also choose from the following Electives (two of which must include a laboratory experience):

Physical Chemistry I
Physical Chemistry II
Fundamentals of Analytical Chemistry
Advanced Analytical Chemistry
Advanced Organic Chemistry
Microbiology
Cell and Molecular Neurobiology
Sytems Neurobiology
Diseases of the Brain
Endocrinology
Advanced Cellular Biology
Virology
Immunology
Evolutionary Genetics
Due to the large number of available electives, students can concentrate their choice of electives to form an unofficial "track" within the major. Please feel free to speak to a BMB program faculty member about your many options!
