More Information

Academic Credit and Tuition
4 Credits- $2400. This includes room, board and transportation to the site daily. You must find your own transportation to Maine. If you don't have a car, buses are available from all major eastern cities.

Setting
We will be working in an open field and in the shade of trees a few hundred feet from the shoreline. Conditions in Maine at this time are nearly ideal. Days can be quite warm, up to the 90s, but nights are comfortable. It can be quite humid.

Access to the site
We will drive a van to the site on a daily basis (c. 5 minutes from the farm house), but you must find your own way to Surry. Contact the Director for contact information for other students so that rides can be shared.

Skills to be learned

Survey, Sampling, and Excavation

Field Trips
In order to better understand the Maine coast we will be taking a couple of trips in the area, including to Acadia National Park (c. 20 minutes away) and going on a short kayak trip run by professional guides.

Weekly Schedule (more details to follow)
Sundays will be free, but plan on working (or taking a short trip) on Saturday. Evenings will be spent entering data for the day, caring for equipment and washing artifacts.
