Ongoing Special Committees
In Spring 2000, the main issues considered by the Drew chapter of AAUP were compensation and merit. (See the Annual Letter from the Co-chairs for a summery of the 1999-2000 year.) These issues continue to be of concern to faculty at Drew, and therefore to Drew's AAUP as well

In the 1999-2000 year members agreed to establish two working committees to explore issues of concern to AAUP members locally and nationally.  These committees are:

  • Working Committee on Adjunct and Part Time Faculty Issues
  • Working Committee on Technology Issues.
Other areas of concern include non-teaching workload and faculty research support.

To volunteer for either of these committees, or to propose other issues for working committees contact the co-chairs, or raise the issue on the floor of the next meeting.

State issues this year mostly concerned proposed State laws, discussed by the New Jersey State Conference Committee "R" on Government Relations.

AAUP National has produced a report on each of these issues, and the working committees are charged with exploring the impact of  these issues on Drew faculty in all three schools and the library.

  • To read more about state issues being addressed by the New Jersey State Conference of AAUP (with representatives from AAUP chapters on each NJ campus), see the State Conference page.
  • To read more about national issues, see the AAUP "Hot Column."

To suggest new issues for Drew AAUP members to consider, contact the co-chairs, or raise the issue on the floor of the next meeting.

From time to time the Drew chapter of AAUP passes resolutions on issues brought to it by the members, the executive committee, or the co-chairs.  Any such resolutions or statements will be added to this website.
